Highlighting

Applies current highlighting colour to the character style or text selection.

To access this command...

Choose Format - Character - Highlighting tab.

When editing a character style, choose Highlighting tab.

Click the Character Highlighting Colour icon on the Formatting bar, Text Object bar or Character section of Properties Sidebar.Text Formatting bar.

To change the highlighting colour, click the arrow next to the Character Highlighting Colour icon, and then click the colour that you want.

Apply Highlighting

To a Text Selection

  1. Select the text that you want to highlight.

  2. Click the Character Highlighting Colour icon on the Formatting or Text ObjectText Formatting bar.

  3. To type after the selection without highlighting, click Ctrl +M.

For Multiple Selections

  1. Start with no text selected.

  2. On the Formatting bar, click the Character Highlighting Colour icon.

  3. The mouse cursor changes to the Apply Highlighting cursor.

  4. Use the Apply Highlighting cursor to select text that you want to highlight.

  5. To turn off highlighting cursor, click the Character Highlighting Colour icon again, or press Esc.

To apply highlighting to a single word, double-click the word; for a sentence use triple-click, and quadruple-click for a paragraph.

To Remove Highlighting

  1. Select the highlighted text.

  2. On the Text Formatting bar, click the arrow next to the Character Highlighting Colour icon, and then click No Fill.

  1. For multiple selections, click the Character Highlighting Colour icon with No Fill, select highlighting to remove, then finish by clicking the icon again or pressing Esc.
